Day 7 - Krakow back to the city
We had initially planned to hike in Kuzsnice today but considering our state after our epic hike of yesterday we weren't in the mood for more. So we decided to skip Kuzsnice and head straight to the beautiful city of Krakow. It took us about an hour and a half of very confusing speed limits on the Polish roads, is it 70? 90? Why is everybody else doing 150? We were headed to a parking lot recommended for being accommodating of campers and located 1km from Stare Miasto (old city). Our gps on the other hand decided to go somewhere else and while there was a parking lot, it wasn't accommodating and didn't look super safe. We thought about it and decided against it and headed to that first parking lot I mentioned. It's nice, has shade and is indeed really near the center.
Parking coordinates: 50.059126,19.954874
Our neighbours are French (...yay.) and are rocking the speedo like nobody can. There's also a camper that was with us in Zakopane the coolest vw transporter and the coolest dog.
We did a quick tour of the center of Krakow this afternoon (as much as our limbs allowed us) the city is stupidly beautiful. A true gem. The basilica on the main place is possibly the most beautiful religious building I have ever seen. The ceilings, the golden altar, the black wood benches. It's incredible. It's also not allowed to take pictures of the inside so you will have to believe me.
The center is quite animated in the summer, lots of street performers. It's really nice.
Traditional Ukrainian Bandoura
Incredible tsimbala performer
We headed home around 19 because our bodies were giving up. Tomorrow we will finish the city of Krakow, the Jewish area and the rest of the old city that we were too tired to do today and head to the salt mines of Wieliczka.
