Day 2 - Ascending the peak of Predné Solisko

After a great night spent in the Van and a great concert of Folkloric Slovak music, we woke up to a weather calling for a hike in the summits (and a bit of a hangover...) and a view to kill for.

#NoFilter
We chilled a bit, had breakfast and headed to the shop to buy the couple of things I forgot yesterday (because I'm an idiot). On the way there we managed to see the parade of the ducks and snap a couple of duck butts pictures (first achievement of the day).

The plan was to take the chair lift to Chata pod Soliskom (the chalet below Solisko), hike up the mountain and all the down back to the Van. Aliona powered through her fear of heights on her first chair lift ride, and while we got a couple of rain drops on the way up the weather stayed perfect.

The hike up is not too long, it's a 1.5km long, 300m up and then 6km long, 800m down back to the van. We completed it in about 4h taking a couple of breaks, and stopping for a great lunch at the top of Solisko. We decided to go a bit further than Predne Solisko because there were too many tourists and stopped for lunch in a paradisiac spot between two valleys and then for a beer (non alcoholic!) at the arrival of the chair lift which was both refreshing and rewarding.

And the sandwiches were awesome.

We saw some crazy cloud formations probably above Lomicky Stit, I believe those are called lenticular. First time we were seeing this.

The hike down was a bit tedious because of tourists and uneven terrain (mostly the latter) but we made it. Aliona is currently making us Penne Al Pesto, and we will prepare mentally for tomorrow's hike, 6h "Inshallah" around the Solisko peaks.

Here are a few pictures of the day, the scenery and the wildlife.
