Day 13 - Hiking in the wine country

We set off not really knowing where we were going, we just wanted a gentle hike up the closest mountain and see if we could reach the ruin of the castle. There was a display down in the village with a couple of hiking paths, one of them was said to be 2,5h (I insist on was said). Funny enough a couple of those paths lead to Santiago de Compostella. If we walked enough we might end up in Le Puy.

The hike was really nice, in the forest, with very few people gorgeous smells of pines and beautiful sceneries. So much so that we completely forgot to take pictures.

I did finally manage to fly my kite for a bit which is an accomplishment in itself. There was a spot for paragliders there where the wind was just perfect.

We walked through the vineyards until the next village where we were craving for a beer and a bite to eat. We stopped in the most hipstery pretentious bar I've ever been. I wanted a salad and ended up with a pretty weird concoction involving pickled turnips and fresh flowers. Ugh. In the meantime Ali's sandwich was served on a massive log of wood. What's wrong with traditional...

Anyway, we kept on going for the remaining 2,5h (total of the hike 5h, 15km...).

We arrived at the van and decided to head up to the next spot, which was a camping spot in Podyjí National Park, we stop in Znojmo near the Austrian border to refill our food and beer stocks and found the camping spot. Just near the entrance of the forest, perfectly quiet and dark (maybe a bit too quiet and dark).

Next day we will go down the road in the park to see the King's Seat and then head to the Austrian Alps to get our weekly dose of mountains.
