Day 16 - Der Königssee

We set off on the morning of day 16 from the lovely village of Seefeld towards the glacier lake of Königssee in the German side of Bavaria in the natural park of Berchtesgaden. The drive from Seefeld was simply breathtaking. Blue water lakes after blue water lake the road closely following the shoreline.

We crossed the border into germany and followed the river flowing from the Königssee. At the town of Schönau am Königssee I decided to reroute since my gps implied I could get closer to the lake if I didn't listen to the signs. A small hill ahead no worries, shift into first, second... woops missed the gear change sound of gears rattling. Try again, the gear pops out.
...
Ah.
So, stop. Restart in first, shift to second, pops out, try to go straight to third. Not enough power.
Park on the side of road.
Panic.
Panic.
Get out look under car, nothing is leaking, nothing is on the road.
Try shifting with the engine off, 1 2 3 4 5 reverse. All works.
Wait a bit.
Panic.
Restart car, drive 1st 2nd 3rd.
All good.
Ok so we're back on the road. I think I had pushed the 2nd gear onto the synchro ring which prevented it from synching so I needed to stop and put the gears back where there supposed to be by reshifting everything in order.

Anyways, we head to the Königssee with the firm intention of cooling down our heads after that stressful event by swimming in that thing.

The area is quite touristy but nothing like Morskie Oko and as soon as you get on the hiking trails the tourists disapear. We found an amazing little beach for us only and set up to swim in what can only be described as one of the most beautiful thing we have ever seen.

We snapped a couple of pictures and Aliona couldn't resist going in for a dip in the cold lake.

I heard some kids jumping off a slightly more elevated platform so my inner teenager kicked in and I convinced ali to go there so I could jump off the thing as well. We set up on that little adventure following a path that didnt exist and got there.

It was Fun.

We walked back to have lunch at the cafe on the border of the lake bought some memorabilia and headed to the camping as we didn't have the mind for wild camping that night.

They for cast rain during the night and all day tomorrow which might put a damper in our hiking envy.
