Valvestino

This weekend our friend and captain Andrea had organised a trip to Valvestino. We drove there on Saturday afternoon to spend the night with a group of friends in a fienile which is a typical hut from the mountain area. We arrived and discover in awe and with some tears of joy the beauty of the place and of the view.

We had an aperitivo with one of the largest bottle of wine I have ever seen and later on went to a restaurant.

I can safely say that I have never eaten that much food in my life. It was glorious. Melted cheese, lard, beef, boar, good wine. All you need. We wen back to our fienile weighing each about a million kgs and had a fantastic night of sleep.

The next morning we set out for a hike. The weather was stunning, warm and clear. We climbed to the top of Mt Tombea and back, a total of 16km and 820m elevation.

The mount used to be a place of fortification during WW I and still has tunnels and buildings to shelter cannons. From the top of the mount since it was such a clear day we could see all the way to the Garda lake and Sirmione. The view from the top of the mountain was incredible like being on top of the world and seeing those snow capped mountains in the horizon. Wished we could have stayed there a whole life.

But a few pictures are worth more than a long speech so enjoy !
