Italia - Part 1

After a good rest in Turin and another shower (we feel so clean), en route to see our friends near the Garda lake we decided to stop by the Como lake both to cut the drive and to finally get to see the lake. Unfortunately the day was a bit hazy..

Anyway, we drove through Turin because we wanted to see how it was. We weren't impressed. I think we may have seen a little too many European cities and got desensitized to pretty buildings...The countryside around Turin is pretty boring, flatness and highways...

We drove through and took the highway for the first time in a long time. We arrived in Como in the early afternoon but the sky was still cloudy and a bit grim. We drove straight to the spot we were going to spend the night near the lake, using the old via regina which is a 2m wide 2 way road (obviously) winding around the lake with some of the most beautiful villas I've ever seen on each side.

We parked near Menaggio and spent a quiet night there. The next day we woke up when we could and started driving towards Desenzano to meet with our friends. Another uneventful highway drive. Then we arrived, that night we drank, and ate, and drank etc.

The next day we woke up feeling awesome, and decided to go for a hike in the natural park of Adamello Brenta, The hike, as always, was incredible.

This path is located in a Valley so it's mostly flat all the way to the refuge. Highly highly recommend it. We drove home and had some great pizze on the way. We got home and passed out hard.

The next day the fog was still not really lifting over the Garda lake but we still decided to have some sandwiches on the shore of the lake, walk around the city center of Desenzano and take the boat to Sirmione. It's a village built at the tip the peninsula in the Garda Lake.

The village is beautiful and despite being in October it was still quite busy. We walked to the tip of the peninsula and they have thermal springs coming up. We walked around the tip and among the beautiful villas and the turquoise water (why go to the beach).

Afterwards we took the boat back to the shore and decided to go visit a small village called Borghetto (literally, the small village) which is "the most beautiful village in Italy"©. It is really beautiful, like really. It's built on a river with old houses and an old bridge going across. We had diner there in a village, the story goes that tortellini are shaped this way because a man fell in love with a river maid and decided to go join her and then there's an history of a knot being tied to mark the part where they joined the river. But as to who tied the knot we didn't manage to get an agreement.
